Installing and using content management systems like WordPress and Joomla can often leave many overwhelmed. Sometimes, all you might really need is a simple, one-page website that you can create in a matter of minutes without any installations and configurations.
Today, we would like to share with you a tool called Site Publisher within cPanel that will allow you to easily setup your one page website even before you can finish reading this article.
What is Site Publisher?
It is a tool to deploy a web page in the quickest way even if you have never created a website before. This can be achieved by using a combination of inbuilt templates and your own images to create a web page that is perfect for you.
Who is it for?
It is for anyone who wants to have a simple informational page about their business or themselves. If you’re going to create an online CV for yourself, or deploy an ‘under construction’ page till your main website comes up, or if you want to countdown to the big launch of your product or main website, Site Publisher is the best tool for you.
How to Use Hostgator Website Builder?
Firstly, it is essential that your domain is pointed to the hosting package that you’ve just purchased at Hostgator. If you have bought the domain from us or from another provider just ensure that you add the hosting nameservers to the domain. After making the necessary changes, you will see the following default error screen when you try to load your domain.
Note: This page will only appear if you correctly point your domain to the hosting package and you don’t have any CMS like WordPress installed.
You will then need to locate the Site Publisher tool under cPanel to build your site. Follow these steps to find Site Publisher
- Login to your Hostgator account
- Click on Manage Orders >> List/Search Orders
- Click on the Hosting package that you want to manage.
- Finally to enter cPanel, click on Manage Web Hosting.
- Scroll down to Domains section and then click on Site Publisher
Once you are on the Site Publisher screen, you will need to perform the following three steps:
Step 1: Select Domain to create Website under
In this example, we have chosen the domain sitepublishing.testing
Step 2: Select Template to be the base of your website
In the default HostGator cPanel, you have 12 templates to choose from. (You can upload your own themes as well. More on that in a later post)
Step 3: Customize your website page
In this section, depending on the template selected, you can add your own customizations like Company name, title, description, images etc
That’s all you need to do to get your webpage live in no time. These templates will ensure that your domain has a face until you figure out the structure and content of the entire website.
